AMORPHOUS
ANDROGYNOUS - ALICE IN ULTRALAND (2004)
The next album from Dougans and Cobain are
releasing is another Amorphous Androgynous album, thus
making AA an on-going project. The album will probably
contain more tracks from The Isness sessions, along with
some newer material in that style. The tracks are also
intended to be in a slightly darker, funkier vein,
possibly less playful than some of The Isness. Some
titles floating around include The Prophet, Billy The
Onion, Air, Zep (Good Love), Indian Swing, This Is The
Love, Tree Lined River, The Otherness, The Peppermint
Tree, Yes My Brother, Wendover Woods,
Marylebone Road, Seasons, Drifter, Watercolour,
Ultraland, Kara Vozzi, Bagwan, Pimptek, Krishna, Colours,
Willow Tree and Open Later. The Prophet,
Billy The Onion, Air, Zep (Good Love), Indian Swing, This
Is The Love and The Otherness have all been played live,
The Prophet, Billy The Onion and Air were previewed on
the SixMix show in May 2004. Also in the show was a
longer, more 'finished' version of 'Yes My Brother',
which may now be one of those three tracks. Alice In
Ultraland was one of the prospective titles for The
Isness in the late '90s. The album will be out in late
2004.
Other forthcoming releases:
Divinity Single
The new Amorphous Androgynous single will be
'Divinity', due out in 2004. A promo single is flying
around now, containing three mixes. Firstly, the Spector
Mix, a four minute radio version, with drums throughout
and extra vocal harmonies and strings. Possibly the most
concise and impressive version of the song. Also on the
single are edits of the album verison and the live 'The
Band' version. Gaz initially said it contained '40
minutes of mixes', however most of these mixes are left
off to leave a single, with chart elligibility, leaving
it to around 20 minutes in length. The 'dropped' versions
from the initial EP appeared on 'The Otherness' remix
album. There will also be a video for the single, which
is being directed by Gaz and Brian themselves. More info
on final tracklist and release date very soon!
Next Future Sound Of London album
The next FSOL album is due out some time, according to
the official forums. Initial plans were for it to be
based on The Isness, but from a FSOL point of view rather
than an Amorphous Androgynous one.
"We're sampling bits from this record and putting
them back together in different forms. If you sample
material you tend to loop it more, which lends it a
trance-like quality. It's gonna be an LP full of
psychedelia mixed in a bizarre way." However, this
information was revealed some time ago, and this project
seems to have morphed into 'The Otherness'. With time
spent on new Amorphous Androgynous material, chances are
not much work has been made on this album yet, so work
will begin fully once Alice In Ultraland is released, now
Gaz is ready to reimmerse himself into the digital world.
Because of this, chances are we don't know much of what
it will sound like, but it probably shan't be as dark as
some of the 90s albums.
DVD
There is word of a DVD release. Fans were asked
on the official forum what content they would like on a
DVD. No date yet, but look out for a probable release
sometime in the short or long distance future.
